How pig butchering works

The scammer builds trust over weeks or months before the 'investment' is introduced. Small withdrawals are allowed at first to build trust – then everything is locked.

Fake crypto exchanges and clone sites

Sites that look identical to Kraken, Binance or Safello. Always check the URL character by character and never use links from messages.

Remote-control scams

You get a call about a 'security problem'. During the 'help', the scammer empties your bank account and buys crypto in your name. No legitimate actor asks for remote access.

Recovery scams – targeting those already defrauded

After a scam, victims are contacted by 'recovery firms' demanding upfront payment. Nordics Coin never takes upfront payment in crypto and verifies all cases via BankID.

The six most common warning signs

Guaranteed returns of 200–300%

No legitimate investment can guarantee returns. Promises of fast, safe profits are the clearest warning sign.

WhatsApp or Telegram groups

You are added to a group of 'experts' and 'happy investors'. Everyone except you is a scammer or a bot.

Requests for AnyDesk or TeamViewer

No bank or exchange asks you to install remote-control software. If you do, the scammer gets full control of your computer.

Unknown trading platform with its own app

The site shows nice profits, but you can never withdraw. The platform is a facade controlled by the scammers.

A relationship that turns into investing

'Pig butchering': an online friend or partner starts suggesting joint crypto investments after a few weeks.

Pressure to act fast

'The offer is only valid today', 'the account will be locked unless you pay the tax'. Stress is the scammer's most important tool.
